A local investigative reporter had picked up the story after the neighborhood security video was leaked online, and news camera crews were waiting at the buildingâs entrance.

Daniel tried to block his face with his jacket as reporters swarmed him, firing questions about the stolen funds and the Apex Horizons shell company.
He fled to Vanessaâs new downtown condo, frantically using his emergency key to open the front door.
Inside, the condo was filled with cardboard moving boxes.
Vanessa was sitting on the floor surrounded by her clothes, weeping hysterically while her husbandâs lawyers loaded her furniture onto a hand truck.
âDaniel!â Vanessa screamed when she saw him. âMy husband locked my bank accounts! Heâs suing me for adultery! What are we going to do?!â
Daniel grabbed her shoulders, his eyes wild with panic. âWhere is the cash from the Apex account?! We need to buy plane tickets!â
âThe bank frozen it!â Vanessa wailed, shoving his hands off her. âYour wife froze everything three hours ago! We have nothing!â
A sharp knock echoed at the condo door.

âDaniel Miller? Vanessa Cole?â the lead marshal announced. âYou are both under arrest for federal wire fraud, conspiracy, and grand larceny.â
