Chapter 10 - The New Horizon

Two years after the night in the dressing room, the annual Carter Foundation Innovation Gala returned to Manhattan.
The Grand Ballroom of Carter Tower was bathed in golden amber light and filled with hundreds of guests celebrating the opening of five new regional trauma recovery centers across the state.
I stood on the main stage wearing a stunning off-the-shoulder midnight-blue silk gown, my hair styled in soft waves cascading over my bare shoulders. My skin was smooth, glowing, and completely free of scars or shadows.
Standing beside me at the podium was Ethan, holding my hand with quiet, unshakeable pride.
"Two years ago, this foundation learned that true strength is not measured by wealth or social standing," I announced into the microphone, my voice steady, resonant, and clear. "True strength is the courage to stand up in the dark, break the chains of silence, and build a sanctuary where every voice is heard and every life is cherished."
The four hundred guests rose to their feet in a thunderous, standing ovation that echoed through the high ceilings.
As we stepped off the stage together, Ethan looked down at me with pure devotion in his eyes, leaning in to press a gentle, loving kiss against my temple.
"You changed the world tonight, Ava," Ethan murmured softly.
May you like
"We did," I smiled, squeezing his hand as we looked out through the glass walls at the brilliant, endless lights of New York City.
The shadows of the past had been completely vanquished. In their place stood a future built on truth, dignity, and a love that was unyielding, beautiful, and forever unbroken.
