Chapter 8 - THE SMASHED COPPER PANS AND PROPERTY DAMAGE

Two days after the Malibu lockout, I flew down from Seattle to inspect the property in person, accompanied by my property manager and a licensed contractor to document the interior damage. Walking through the front door, the extent of their disrespect became glaringly obvious. The white linen sofa had a permanent red wine stain soaked deep into the fabric, the stainless-steel grill was caked in charred grease from uncleaned steaks, and my expensive copper cookware had been permanently scratched and ruined by abrasive scrubbing pads.

Furthermore, Jessica had left my designer vanity cluttered with broken makeup palettes and stained towels. The contractor took meticulous photographs and video walkthroughs of every damaged item, compiling a comprehensive itemized repair and replacement estimate totaling $34,800. I didn't feel sadness as I walked through the ruined rooms; I felt a cold, focused determination. Every single dollar of property damage would be legally recovered down to the last cent.
