Chapter 12 - FACING THE FLYING MONKEYS

“You call breaking into my home, destroying my property, and threatening my career a mistake?” I asked, my voice cutting cleanly through the private room like glass. Dad slammed his hand down on the table. “Don’t you talk to your mother that way! We raised you, we fed you, and you’re dragging us through court over a few stained cushions?”

Jessica chimed in, whining that her friends were seeing the news articles online. I looked at the three of them with absolute, unyielding indifference. “You spent my entire life teaching me that my boundaries didn't matter, that my achievements belonged to everyone except me, and that my home was just a hotel for your convenience,” I stated calmly, pulling a final legal document from my briefcase. “Here are your choices: you sign this binding consent judgment agreeing to pay the full $34,800 property damage restitution and a permanent no-contact restraining order, or I let the District Attorney prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law. Choose.”
