Chapter 13 - RECOVERING THE STOLEN EMPIRE

By sunrise, federal agents backed by state police raided Sal Romano’s Boston headquarters, arresting him and his remaining conspirators on sweeping federal racketeering and conspiracy charges. Sal had nowhere to run, as Dante’s digital trap had locked down all of his financial assets hours earlier. With the syndicate cleansed of traitors and federal heat neutralized through strategic cooperation, Dante regained undisputed control of Romano Maritime and its legitimate holdings. The Boston underworld learned a brutal lesson: the king had returned, and his grip was stronger than ever.
The morning news broadcast in the safe house living room played footage of Sal Romano being led out of his waterfront mansion in handcuffs, screaming obscenities at news cameras while federal agents bundled him into a cruiser.
Dante clicked off the television with the remote, tossing it onto the coffee table. The war was officially won. The traitors were in federal custody, his ports were secure, and his empire was restored under absolute, unquestioned authority.
He turned around to face Ella, who was sitting on the sofa with Leo sleeping in her arms. The tension that had defined their lives since that rainy night in Southie seemed to evaporate, replaced by a quiet, uncertain future.

“You’re safe to return to your life, Ella,” Dante said softly, stepping closer. “The feds have cleared the area. You can go back to Boston whenever you’re ready. Your debts are gone, and your name is completely clear.”
Ella looked up at him, her heart skipping a beat as she realized the reality of his words meant walking away from the man she had come to love.
