Chapter 5 - The Kidnapping on the Ridge

Two weeks after Victoria’s arrest, her disgraced brother, Julian Sterling, sought desperate vengeance.
While I was driving Mason, Michael, and Madison back from their weekend riding lessons at the Carter Ranch in Fort Worth, a black pickup truck intentionally rammed our SUV on a secluded country road, forcing us onto the grassy embankment.
Three armed men in tactical masks smashed through the side windows, grabbing the screaming triplets.
"Get off them!" I screamed, lunging across the console, biting the arm of the nearest attacker and shielding Madison with my body.
One of the men struck me across the temple with a heavy flashlight, sending blood streaming down my face. They threw the weeping children into the truck bed and sped away toward the abandoned limestone quarries.
Dazed and bleeding, I pulled myself into the driver's seat of our damaged SUV.

Mason’s riding boots contained a hidden micro-GPS tracker that Ethan and I had installed weeks earlier.
I patched the live satellite coordinates directly into Ethan’s private security dispatch, stepped on the accelerator, and pursued the kidnappers into the rocky hills.
