Chapter 7 - Hunted in the CityAt 9:30 AM, a sleek black sedan pulled into the subterranean parking garage of Apex Tower—a sixty-story glass skyscraper in the heart of San Francisco’s financial district.

The building was a fortress, equipped with biometric security, private armed guards, and state-of-the-art surveillance.
Caleb and Victoria stepped out of the elevator into the sub-basement server hub. Caleb carried a small tactical briefcase containing the encrypted drive and a portable signal disruptor.
“The main security grid runs through this level,” Caleb whispered, opening a server panel with a pocket tool. He attached a small black device to the main fiber-optic line. “Once I activate this, every camera, electronic lock, and radio frequency in this building goes dead for five minutes.”
Victoria watched him work with growing admiration. “You’re going to blind an entire sixty-story skyscraper?”
“Surprise is the best weapon,” Caleb replied, closing the panel.
They took the private service elevator straight to the 58th floor—the executive penthouse suite belonging to CEO Harrison Vance.
When the elevator doors parted, six heavily armed corporate guards were waiting in the grand glass hallway, rifles raised.
“Drop the case!” the lead guard barked.
Caleb didn't drop the case. He pressed a button on his wrist remote.
Instantly, the lights blew out across the entire floor. Emergency sirens blared as the electronic locks failed, and the glass walls vanished into pitch darkness.
Before the guards could activate their tactical lights, Caleb moved.
The darkness belonged to him. In less than twenty seconds, the rhythmic sounds of tactical strikes, disarmed weapons, and falling bodies echoed down the hallway.
When the emergency backup generator kicked in ten seconds later, flickering dim red lights across the corridor, all six guards lay unconscious on the marble floor.

Victoria stepped over them, looking at Caleb in absolute awe. He adjusted his suit jacket, picked up his briefcase, and gently took her hand.
“Shall we meet the CEO?” Caleb smiled smoothly.
