Chapter 10 - A Home Without WallsSix months later.

The sun was warm over a new, beautiful oceanfront home in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
This house wasn't a concrete fortress hidden behind iron gates. It had wide glass doors that stayed open to the breeze, a lush green lawn leading down to a sandy beach, and bright, welcoming flowers blooming along the porch.
Laughter filled the afternoon air.
Seven-year-old Emma was running across the grass, chasing a golden retriever puppy, her happy screams echoing over the sound of the ocean waves.
On the porch swing, Caleb sat holding a glass of iced tea, his arm wrapped comfortably around Victoria’s waist.
Victoria leaned against his chest, wearing a simple summer dress, her skin glowing with health and happiness. Following the collapse of Apex Global, she had cleared her name completely and established a international charitable foundation dedicated to rebuilding communities affected by corporate fraud.
Emma came running up the porch steps, carrying a handful of wildflowers, and handed them to Victoria.
“For you, Victoria!” Emma beamed, jumping onto the swing beside them.
Victoria pulled the little girl into a sweet hug, kissing her cheek. “They’re beautiful, sweetheart. Just like you.”
Caleb watched them together, his heart overflowing with a peace he hadn't felt in years. He realized that safety didn't come from building thick walls or keeping the world out. It came from the people you chose to let inside.
Victoria turned her head, looking up into Caleb’s eyes, her fingers tangling into his.
“What are you thinking about, Captain?” she asked softly, a playful smile touching her lips.
Caleb smiled—a real, deep smile that lit up his handsome face—and pulled her close for a soft, lingering kiss.
“I’m thinking,” Caleb whispered against her lips, “that taking down a corporate empire was the second best decision I ever made.”
“And what was the first?” Victoria murmured, her green eyes shining with infinite love.
Caleb squeezed her hand tightly, looking out at his daughter playing on the beach.
