Chapter 15 - Incoming TargetMy blood ran cold. “Ninety minutes?”

“They aren't coming to rescue you, Sarah,” Cole said coldly. “They have shoot-on-sight orders under a classified national security mandate. You need to get off that island now.”
“We’re out of fuel, General,” Marcus shouted from the doorway of the shed. “The Gulfstream is dead!”
“There is an old Navy C-130 Hercules parked in the secondary shelter on the north spit,” Cole said. “It’s part of the island’s emergency evacuation depot, maintained by the Coast Guard. It’s old, it’s mechanical, and it has zero digital fly-by-wire computers for Vance to hijack.”
“Can it fly?” I asked.
“It has fuel in the tanks for an island evacuation run,” Cole said. “If you can start those turboprops, fly straight to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. I will personally clear Runway Zero-Four Left and meet you on the tarmac with a battalion of Marine Corps Military Police. But you have to get here alive.”
The radio link suddenly snapped with a loud burst of static and died completely.
“They’re jamming the HF band,” Daniel said, looking up at the sky outside.
High above the clouds, a faint sound was echoing—the deep, rhythmic thrum of heavy twin-rotor military helicopters approaching from the west.

“Vance’s team is early,” Marcus said, pulling a service pistol from his side holster. “We’ve got ten minutes, maybe less.”
“To the C-130!” I ordered, grabbing the laptop and heading out into the open.
