The Boiling Point / Chapter 7 / 20

Chapter 7 - Assessing the DamageEthan rushed Lily to the bathroom, gently running cool water over her burned hand while his wife retrieved the first-aid kit. Lily whimpered softly, the initial shock wearing off as a dull, throbbing pain set in.

"You're going to be okay, sweetheart Daddy's right here," Ethan murmured, his voice cracking with emotion as he applied soothing burn cream and wrapped the hand in sterile gauze.

Outside the bathroom, Helen had managed to pull herself up from the floor, her pride severely damaged. She paced the hallway outside, muttering threats under her breath, vowing that her son would pay dearly for crossing her. But inside the bathroom, Ethan made a silent vow of his own: they were leaving this toxic house tonight.
