The Boiling Point / Chapter 6 / 20

Chapter 6 - Silence in the RoomThe kitchen fell into an absolute, stunned silence. Helen sat sprawled on the floor beside the overturned dining chair, her mouth opening and closing in sheer disbelief. Never in her entire life had anyone dared to lay a hand on her—let her own son.

Ethan stood frozen, staring at his hands for a brief second before the reality of the situation washed over him. Helen looked up at him from the floor, her eyes wide with shock and a terrifying new spark of malice.

"What... what just happened?" Helen whispered, her voice trembling not from fear, but from wounded pride.

Ethan didn't offer a hand to help her up. Instead, he looked down at her with cold, unyielding resolve. "Maybe now you’ll learn some respect," he said quietly, turning his back on her.
