Chapter 7 - The Secret Family TrustWith Daniel in police custody, Abigail, Attorney Pendelton, and I sat at the dining room table, drinking warm tea under the golden sunlight streaming through the windows.

Arthur opened the final locked metal case, revealing the original trust documents created by my late husband, Arthur Sr., thirty years ago.

“Evelyn,” Arthur Pendelton said gently, “your husband knew Daniel’s character flaws long before he passed. He set up a protective clause: if any heir attempted to exercise forced power of attorney or manipulate your living arrangements, their share of the family trust would be instantly liquidated and donated to charity.”

Daniel had not only lost his home and his freedom—he had forfeited his entire future inheritance of four million dollars.

Abigail held my hand tightly across the table. “You're coming to live with me in Boston, Mom. I have a beautiful guest suite overlooking the gardens, and your granddaughters are dying to see you.”

Tears of pure relief fell down my cheeks as I looked at my daughter, knowing the nightmare was finally over.
