Chapter 2 - The Black LimousineAt exactly 2:10 p.m., the low rumble of a heavy engine echoed down the quiet suburban cul-de-sac.

A pristine, jet-black luxury limousine turned smoothly into the driveway, its tinted glass reflecting the afternoon sun.

Daniel’s smug smile widened. “Did you call some elderly church friend to rescue you, Mom? Is that your ride?”

He pulled open the heavy oak front door before the driver could even step out to knock.

The rear limousine door opened. A woman in a dark navy tailored suit stepped out first. Her silver-streaked dark hair was pulled into a sharp, elegant knot. Behind her came a senior family estate attorney carrying a briefcase, followed by two security officers holding locked metal document cases.

Daniel’s face emptied of every drop of color. His jaw loosened, his arms dropping to his sides.

The woman in the navy suit stepped past the limousine hood, her sharp designer heels clicking against the concrete driveway. She looked past Daniel and saw me standing beside my suitcase near the doorway.

She stopped, reached up, and slowly removed her designer sunglasses.

“Move away from our mother, Daniel,” my daughter Abigail declared, her voice cold as ice. “We know what you did.”
