Chapter 9 - The Ultimatum

With Carmine Vitale neutralized and his remaining capos fleeing across state lines to escape the fallout, the balance of power in New York City shifted permanently back into Vincent Rossi’s hands within a single, blinding night. By sunrise, the syndicate’s leadership council convened at Vincent’s downtown headquarters to ratify the unconditional surrender of the Vitale territories. Seated at the head of the massive mahogany table, Vincent looked across the room at the assembled underbosses and captains, his presence commanding absolute, unquestioned reverence. “The war is over,” Vincent announced, his voice echoing clearly across the silent boardroom. “The Vitale name is erased from our books. Their ports, their properties, and their accounts are now integrated directly into our legitimate shipping and real estate portfolios.” He leaned forward, resting his hands flat on the table. “And let this serve as a permanent law across our neighborhoods: our business is power, trade, and survival. Women, children, and families are strictly untouchable. Anyone who violates that rule will answer directly to me—starting in this exact room.” The captains nodded in unison, lowering their eyes in silent, total submission. The bloody, chaotic era of reckless street wars was officially closed; Vincent Rossi had transformed from a feared mob boss into an untouchable architectural titan of the city. Yet, despite holding absolute dominion over New York, Vincent’s mind remained focused entirely on one thing: getting back to the medical safehouse before Elena woke up. Dismissing the council with a wave of his hand, he grabbed his coat and headed straight for the elevators.
