Chapter 20 - THE NEW ERA|

Six months later.
Spring had arrived in the Hudson Valley. The twelve acres of private land were covered in green grass, blooming white lilies, and golden sunlight reflecting off the river.
The old wrought-iron gates were open.
The estate was no longer a cold, dark fortress of fear and secrets. Children's laughter echoed across the marble terraces.
Rosa stood on the second-floor balcony, dressed in an elegant silk dress, watching Marcus teach Lily how to kick a small soccer ball across the lush lawn. Marcus was smiling—a real, genuine smile that had returned to his face after years of dark grief.
Silas sat in a wicker armchair on the patio below, reading the morning paper, a cup of steaming espresso resting on the table beside him. He looked older, his hair completely silver now, but the heavy, dark shadow in his eyes was gone.
He had officially retired from the syndicate, handing full leadership of the Moretti family to Marcus, while securing all financial assets in a private, ironclad trust for Lily.
Lily ran across the grass, her red rubber boots splashing into a small puddle, her bright laughter filling the warm spring air.
She stopped near the rose garden, bending down to pick up a bright yellow flower.
She ran over to Silas, holding the flower up to him with a proud grin.
"Pretty, Grandpa," Lily said happily.
Silas smiled, accepting the flower with a gentle hand, lifting his granddaughter into his lap.
"Yes, my darling," Silas whispered, looking out over the grand estate, his heart finally at peace. "Very pretty."

Far down at the bottom of the gravel drive, a single black sedan sat parked near the outer gates, watching the estate in silent contemplation before rolling its windows up and driving away into the horizon.
The war for the Moretti bloodline was over... but the future was just beginning.
