Chapter 6 - The Unmasking at the Charity GalaThe annual Oakridge Childrenâs Charity Gala was held at the Grand Regency Hotel downtownâthe very event Daniel had chaired for four consecutive years.

Daniel arrived wearing an immaculate black tuxedo, flanked by his defense attorney, attempting to greet donors and maintain the illusion that he was still the townâs golden boy.
However, as he stepped into the main ballroom, the large digital screens projecting the charityâs annual sponsor video suddenly went dark.
The room fell into a curious silence.
Detective Mara Ruiz stepped up to the audio console, connecting a secure tablet to the venueâs main sound system.
Before Danielâs lawyer could intervene, the high-definition audio recording captured by my transmitter two nights earlier echoed loudly through the ballroom speakers:
âNo one will believe you over me... You have no money without me... The house is mine. The accounts are mine. Our friends are mine. And if you accuse me of anything, Iâll tell them youâre unstable!â

followed by the clear, sickening sound of his fist striking the drywall!
The entire ballroom erupted into horrified gasps! Donors dropped their wine glasses, board members stood up in outrage, and people backed away from Daniel as if he were covered in poison!
