Chapter 9 - Breaking the ContractThe following afternoon, Sophia and I walked hand-in-hand into the main auditorium of Bole Industrial headquarters.

Instead of a closed-door board meeting, Sophia had invited the entire corporate staff, factory supervisors, plant technicians, and the media into the room.
Over five hundred people packed the auditorium, quiet whispers echoing off the walls as television cameras broadcasted the event live across the nation.
Sophia stepped up to the podium, looking elegant and composed in a white suit. I stood directly behind her, holding her hand tightly.
“Yesterday, an intimate legal document from my personal life was released to the press,” Sophia began, her voice ringing clear and strong through the microphone. “And I am here today to tell you that the document is authentic.”
The crowd gasped, cameras flashing rapidly.
“A year ago,” Sophia continued, looking out at her employees, “my ex-husband attempted to take my daughter. I was terrified, isolated, and desperate to protect my child. I approached Liam Edwards—a man who worked on our factory floors—and offered to pay his father’s catastrophic medical bills in exchange for a one-year marriage agreement.”
She paused, turning her head to look at me with tears sparkling in her eyes.
“I thought I was buying domestic stability,” Sophia said softly. “I thought I was making a cold, calculated business deal. But I was wrong. What Liam gave me wasn't a fake marriage. He brought truth, warmth, and unconditional love into a house that was dead.”
Sophia looked back at the cameras and the board members sitting in the front row.
“If the board of directors believes that loving my family and protecting my child makes me unfit to lead this company, then I will gladly resign today,” Sophia declared boldly. “Because my family is not for sale, and our love is not a contract.”
For three long seconds, the auditorium was completely silent.

Then, from the back row, an old factory supervisor stood up and began to applaud. Within seconds, another worker joined, then another.
Before long, the entire five-hundred-person auditorium erupted into a thunderous, standing ovation, cheering and shouting their support for Sophia. The board members exchanged glances, realizing that removing her would destroy the company’s reputation forever.
