The headline exploded across social media and financial news channels on Monday morning:
“BOLE INDUSTRIAL CEO BOUGHT HUSBAND: THE $500,000 FAKE MARRIAGE CONTRACT EXPOSED.”
Reporters and news trucks swarmed the iron gates of the estate, flashing cameras and shouting questions every time a vehicle entered or exited.
Inside the house, the atmosphere was chaotic. Corporate PR advisers paced through the study, advising Sophia to release a statement claiming the contract was a prenuptial agreement, while legal counsel warned of potential board backlash.
Emma and Eva sat in the upstairs playroom, frightened by the loud shouting from the gates outside.
Sophia stood near the window, her face pale, watching the media frenzy. “They’re turning our life into a circus, Liam. The board is calling an emergency meeting for tomorrow afternoon to discuss my leadership.”
I walked over to her, pulling her away from the window and wrapping my arms tightly around her shoulders.
