Chapter 10 - The Unbroken Horizon

That evening, as the golden sunset dipped beneath the rolling hills of Granville, painting the sky in breathtaking shades of rose, gold, and deep amber, Ethan and I walked down to the edge of the pond.

The cool evening breeze rustled the willow branches, carrying the sweet fragrance of blooming honeysuckle.

Ethan held his mother’s polished silver cup in his hands, watching the golden reflections ripple across the water.

"Dad," Ethan spoke softly, his voice full of deep, mature gratitude. "When I was scrubbing clothes in that dark basement, I thought my life was over. I thought nobody was ever coming."

I turned, placing my hands firmly on my son’s strong shoulders, looking straight into his clear hazel eyes.

"No matter where you are in this world, Ethan," I said, my voice steady and unyielding. "No matter how dark the room is, your father will always come for you. Always."

Ethan smiled—a radiant, unburdened smile that held no shadow of the past—and pulled me into a fierce, loving embrace.

We stood together on the shore of our land, watching the stars begin to illuminate the twilight sky.

The nightmare was permanently destroyed. The darkness had given way to a magnificent, unbreakable dawn—and our lives were finally, gloriously whole.
