Chapter 1 - The Feast of the EliteThe grand dining room

Chapter 1 - The Feast of the EliteThe grand dining room of the Caldwell estate glittered under the blinding radiance of three massive crystal chandeliers. Polished silver tableware, crystal wine glasses, and fine bone china caught the warm light, casting a shimmering glow across the impeccably dressed high-society guests. Laughter, polite applause, and the soft hum of classical string music filled the air as elite family members and prominent business associates gathered for an exclusive banquet.

At the head of the long mahogany table sat Victoria Caldwell, the matriarch of the household. Clad in a deep maroon velvet evening gown and heavy diamond-and-ruby jewelry, she radiated an aura of untouchable authority and aristocratic perfection. Every movement in the room was orchestrated to maintain the flawless facade of the Caldwell dynasty.

Yet, beneath the glittering opulence of the main hall, a cold, oppressive regime governed the hidden corners of the mansion. The rules were absolute, unyielding, and cruelly enforced by a woman who believed that pedigree and perfection were the only metrics of human worth.
