Chapter 7 - The EvictionForty-eight hours had passed since Daniel received the eviction notice.

He stood in the grand foyer of the Whispering Pines estate, surrounded by cardboard boxes. The house was quiet, empty, and cold. The luxury furniture, bought with my father's money, had already been tagged by the bank for liquidation.

A sharp knock echoed through the house.

Daniel opened the door, hoping against hope that it was me, ready to forgive him. Instead, he found Miriam Cole standing on the porch, flanked by two burly moving men and a county sheriff.

"Your time is up, Mr. Vance," the sheriff said, holding a signed eviction warrant. "You need to step outside the property immediately. These men will move your personal belongings to the curb."

"Miriam, please," Daniel begged, tears welling in his eyes. "Let me talk to Claire. Just five minutes. I’ll sign whatever she wants. I’ll give up my shares in NexusTech. Just let me stay in the guest house. I have nowhere else to go."

"Claire has nothing to say to you, Daniel," Miriam said, her expression completely indifferent. "And as for the guest house, it is being prepared for its new occupant. Claire’s private security team will be living there to ensure you never step foot on this land again."

Daniel watched in silent agony as the moving men began carrying his clothes, his shoes, and his personal electronics out to the driveway, dumping them onto the damp grass.

He walked down the driveway, a single suitcase in his hand, looking back at the beautiful estate he had once claimed as his own. He had entered this house as a king, treating me like a servant. Now, he was leaving as a beggar, with nothing but the clothes on his back and the bitter taste of his own cruelty.

As he reached the gate, his phone buzzed in his pocket. It was a text message from an unknown number. He opened it, his heart racing.

It was a link to a local news article: Prominent Tech CEO Arrested for Domestic Abuse and Corporate Fraud; Sister Held on $500,000 Bail.

Daniel dropped his phone onto the concrete. The house of cards had collapsed, and he was trapped beneath the rubble.
