Chapter 7 - The News FlashThree days passed.
Cole Manor felt colder and emptier than it ever had before.
Adrian sat in his dark library, staring at Amaraâs wedding ring on the desk, unable to eat, sleep, or work. The guilt in his chest was suffocating him.
Suddenly, the large television screen on the wall chimed with an urgent national news bulletin.
BREAKING NEWS: MISSING BILLIONAIRE HEIRESS FOUND AFTER THREE-YEAR SEARCH.
Adrian glanced up carelessly, but froze the instant the screen displayed a massive, high-definition photograph.
The screen showed a breathtaking image of Amaraâwearing an immaculate white designer suit, her dark hair styled in soft waves, her curves looking magnificent, standing behind a podium flanked by armed security guards and royal dignitaries.
The news anchorâs voice boomed through the speakers:
âBreaking news out of New York: Amara Sterlingâthe missing sole heir to the eighty-billion-dollar Sterling International Fortuneâhas been officially identified after surviving a memory loss accident three years ago. Miss Sterling has officially reclaimed her title as CEO and Chairwoman of Sterling International.â
Adrian dropped his whiskey glass. It shattered against the floor.
