Chapter 2 - The Six-Month ContractThe woman looked up as Adrian’s shadow fell over her.

Despite her worn clothes and dirt-streaked skin, her eyes were striking—deep, intelligent, and filled with a rare, quiet dignity. She possessed a natural, full-figured beauty that no designer dress could ever fake.

“Are you alright, miss?” Adrian asked softly, offering his umbrella.

“I’m fine, thank you, sir,” she replied, her voice smooth, cultured, and surprisingly gentle. “He needed the food more than I did.”

Adrian leaned down, looking directly into her eyes. “What is your name?”

“Amara,” she whispered. She couldn't remember her last name, nor where she came from before waking up in a hospital three years ago after a severe accident. All she knew was the quiet struggle of daily survival.

Adrian pulled a leather card case from his coat.

“Amara,” Adrian spoke clearly, “I have a proposal for you. I need a legal wife for six months to fulfill a family board requirement. In exchange, I will provide you with a safe home, medical care, five hundred thousand dollars, and the resources to rebuild your life. It will be strictly a business contract.”

Amara looked at the handsome billionaire in disbelief. She didn't want luxury or status, but she desperately needed a chance to escape the streets and find her true identity.

“Six months?” Amara asked.

“Six months,” Adrian promised. “No expectations. Just dignity.”

She reached out her hand, shaking his. “Deal.”
