Chapter 8 - Unraveling the Bank AccountsBy sunrise, Marcus’s digital forensic team had penetrated the primary accounts. The scale of the betrayal was staggering. Gertrude hadn't just pocketed the $1,800 monthly remittance; she had used my power of attorney to take out secondary lines of credit against the Bayside Heights mansion, accumulating over $400,000 in luxury expenditures, country club memberships, and designer wardrobes for Prudence.

Furthermore, Prudence had recently quit her low-level administrative job to launch an upscale boutique funded entirely by my overseas sweat. They had treated my life’s work like an infinite ATM, convinced I would either die in the desert or remain too emotionally detached to ever investigate.
"We have them dead to rights on wire fraud, identity theft, and elder/dependent endangerment," Marcus reported over an encrypted video call at 6:00 a.m. "We can slap emergency injunctions on every single asset they control by noon. They won't even be able to buy a cup of coffee without our authorization."
"Do it," I instructed coldly. "And make sure the bank flags the properties they purchased under Prudence's name as proceeds of criminal conversion."
