Chapter 4 - Frozen Accounts, Burning SecretsThe next morning, the offices of Vance Tech were in a state of absolute, chaotic collapse. The local news had run the footage of the arrests on a loop, and our primary investors were calling every five minutes, threatening to pull their capital.

I sat in my father’s old leather chair in the executive office, a cup of strong black coffee in my hand. Leah sat across from me, her fingers flying across her keyboard as she managed the corporate servers.
"We’ve managed to freeze the reserve accounts, Claire," Leah said, looking up with a look of intense relief. "Evan tried to initiate a wire transfer of three million dollars to an offshore bank in the Cayman Islands just thirty minutes before the police arrived at the house. The transaction was pending, but I flagged it as fraudulent."
"And the shell companies?" I asked.
"Marcus and the forensic team have already raided Mara's private office," Daniel said, walking into the room with a thick stack of bank statements. "We found the original ledger. Mara wasn't just helping Evan hide the money; she was using the siphoned capital to buy commercial properties in her family's name. She was planning to leave Daniel and start her own real estate firm with Evan."
"They thought they were the smartest people in the room," I murmured, staring at the numbers on my screen. "But they left a paper trail a mile long."
"The District Attorney is fast-tracking the indictment, Claire," Leah said. "But Evan’s lawyers are already trying to negotiate a plea deal. They are offering to return the two hundred thousand dollars they stole from my account if we drop the corporate fraud charges."
"No deals," I said, my voice dropping into a dangerous, flat register. "They didn't just steal money, Leah. They tried to steal my mind. They wanted to lock me in an asylum while they spent my father's legacy in a tropical paradise. I want them to face the maximum sentence. I want them to feel the absolute terror of losing every single thing they fought so hard to steal."

"We need the physical server keys from Evan's private locker at the athletic club," Daniel said. "That’s where he keeps the secondary backups. If we don't get those, his legal team will argue that the digital logs were manipulated."
"I'll get them," I said, standing up. "It’s time to pay a visit to my husband's private sanctuary."
