Chapter 4 - A Familyâs False CrownAt 5:00 AM, two large black vans marked VANCE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT pulled up to the circular driveway of the Sterling estate.

Inside, Raymond and Judith were awake in the master bedroom, frantically making phone calls to high-priced defense attorneys to post Evanâs bail. Paige was downstairs in her robe, making coffee in the kitchen, completely oblivious to the world crumbling around her.
Suddenly, the front door opened.
My head of security, Arthur, walked into the foyer accompanied by four locksmiths carrying heavy industrial drills and two uniform deputy sheriffs.
Raymond rushed down the stairs, his bathrobe flying behind him. âWhat is the meaning of this outrageous intrusion?! This is private property!â
Arthur pulled a certified court document from his coat and handed it to Raymond.
âThis is an Emergency Writ of Re-entry and Possession issued by the County Chancery Court,â Arthur announced, his voice flat and authoritative. âPursuant to Section 8 of the Master Lease, commission of a violent felony on the premises by a tenant terminates the lease automatically without notice.â
Judith came running down the stairs, her face pale. âYou canât evict us! We have our belongings here!â
âYou have thirty minutes to collect your personal clothing,â the Deputy Sheriff interjected, stepping forward. âAll furniture, vehicles, and assets purchased using funds from the Vance Trust are under judicial freeze.â

âWhere are we supposed to go?!â Paige shrieked from the kitchen, dropping her coffee cup onto the tile floor.
âThat is not our concern, Miss Sterling,â Arthur replied coldly, as the locksmiths began drilling out the deadbolts on the heavy front doors. âThirty minutes. Starting now.â
