Chapter 9 - The Anatomy of TruthTwo weeks later, the board of Caldwell Medical Systems officially cleared Nathan of all wrongdoing, while approving the creation of a new medical innovation division dedicated entirely to frontline technician feedback and equipment safety.

Elena was offered the position of Director of Diagnostic Safety, a role created specifically for her that allowed her to design equipment protocols while earning a master’s degree fully funded by the company's educational grant.
On a warm Saturday afternoon, Nathan drove out to Elena’s apartment in Brooklyn. He didn't arrive in a limousine or with a legal team. He wore simple jeans and a sweater, carrying a large box under his arm.
When Elena opened the door, she looked at him with a warm, welcoming smile—a smile completely free of fear, exhaustion, or defense.
“Is that for me?” she asked, leaning against the doorframe.
“Actually, it’s for Dr. Roar,” Nathan smiled, stepping inside.
In the living room, Mia jumped up from her drawing table, squealing with delight as Nathan opened the box to reveal an entire plastic paleontology lab set, complete with tiny stethoscope attachments for toy dinosaurs.
While Mia excitedly set up her dinosaur hospital in the corner, Nathan walked over to Elena, who was standing near the window looking out at the sunny street.
“You don't look like Level 2 anymore,” Elena whispered, looking into his eyes.
“That’s because I’m not running from anything anymore,” Nathan replied gently. He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out the original dinosaur tissue Mia had given him weeks ago, now framed in a sleek, small glass case.

Elena’s eyes filled with soft tears. “You kept it?”
“It saved my life,” Nathan said softly, touching her cheek with gentle fingers. “It reminded me that love isn't about control or rescue. It’s about being brave enough to stay.”
