Chapter 11 - THE COUNTER-OFFENSIVE AGAINST LORENZO

The morning after our confession brought harsh reality crashing back into our lives. Lorenzo Russo, realizing his internal mole had been discovered and his financial leaks plugged, made a desperate, reckless gamble: he launched an armed assault on the Moretti primary shipping warehouse down by the Brooklyn piers. Security feeds beamed the chaos directly to the penthouse monitors—masked gunmen scaling the perimeter fences, heavy crates being overturned, and armed enforcers holding our night shift workers hostage.
Enzo’s transformation was instantaneous. The lover vanished, leaving only the Black Lion behind. He strapped a tactical harness over his black shirt, tucked two heavy sidearms into his waist, and turned to me with an expression of absolute command. "Stay in the panic room, Elena. This ends today." But I didn't back down. I pulled up the terminal logs on the command console, accessing the automated security overrides for the entire pier network. "I'm not hiding, Enzo," I said with fierce determination. "I have the master grid codes for the warehouse doors. You need me at the console to lock them inside their own trap." Recognizing the tactical advantage, he nodded sharply, and together we led the counter-offensive that would finally break Lorenzo Russo’s grip on the city.
