Chapter 10 - The Eternal Dawn

That evening, as the golden autumn sunset painted the sky across Lake Michigan, our family gathered on the wide back deck.

The cool evening breeze rustled the maple leaves, carrying the sweet scent of woodsmoke and apple cider.

Clara was running across the grass with our golden retriever puppy, Barnaby, her clear, musical laughter echoing through the trees.

Marcus sat beside me on the cedar bench, holding baby Thomas against his chest, his arm wrapped warmly around my waist.

I leaned my head against his shoulder, looking out at the peaceful horizon.

Four years ago, I had lay broken and bleeding on a cold marble floor, listening to cruel laughter while rain hammered against the windows, believing my life was over.

They had believed that cruelty could break a mother's soul.

They had never understood that the fiercest storm only washes away the deceit, paving the way for a love that is pure, invincible, and eternal.

Clara came running up the wooden steps, handing a bright red maple leaf to Marcus and me.

"For Mommy and Daddy!" Clara beamed.

Marcus pulled Clara into our embrace, holding all four of us tight against his beating heart.

The darkness had vanished forever into the sea. In its place stood an everlasting, glorious dawn—and our family was finally, beautifully whole.
