Chapter 7 - Cracks in the Family FrontDuring the weekend recess before jury deliberations, the united front between my parents and brother completely shattered.

Inside the county holding facility, separated into different cell blocks, Nolan broke down under the immense weight of facing twenty-five years in state prison.

He requested an emergency meeting with Prosecutor Sarah Jenkins.

Sitting in an interrogation room in his orange jumpsuit, Nolan wept hysterically, laying the entire blame on our parents.

“It was my mother’s idea!” Nolan confessed, his voice recorded on state wire. “She was furious that Grandpa left sixty percent of his estate to Elena in his original will! She told my dad that if we didn't move him out to the shed and get the power of attorney signed, Elena would inherit everything and leave us with nothing!”

“And what was your role, Nolan?” Prosecutor Jenkins asked coldly.

“I... I paid Greg Miller ten thousand dollars to notarize the forged deeds,” Nolan whimpered, dropping his head onto the metal table. “I bought the sedatives online using a crypto wallet! Please... I’ll testify against my parents! Just give me a deal!”

Sarah Jenkins smiled—a cold, ruthless expression.

“We don't need your testimony to convict your parents, Nolan,” Sarah said, standing up. “We already have the digital crypto receipts from your computer.”
