Chapter 8 - The Battle for the HavenEvan stepped out of his vehicle and walked directly to the front line, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with his wife, Grace. He took the blue thermos from her hands, holding it high in the air for the crowd and news cameras to see.

Reid’s face twisted in fury as he approached with the demolition supervisor. “Evan! Step aside! You’re committing corporate suicide in front of the press!”
“This church isn't just a building, Reid,” Evan shouted back, his voice echoing across the street as local news vans began pulling up to record the scene. “It’s a haven. And you gained your majority board vote through illegal insider trading and undisclosed bank loans!”
Reid turned pale. “What?”
Evan’s attorney stepped forward from the crowd, holding a thick legal dossier. “We filed an emergency injunction with the Federal District Court thirty minutes ago. Mr. Calloway’s fraudulent purchase of board shares has been frozen pending a criminal investigation.”
The crowd erupted into wild cheers. The bulldozer drivers immediately turned off their heavy engines, stepping down from their cabs and refusing to operate the equipment.
Reid looked around frantically as police cruisers pulled up to the curb, their blue lights flashing against the wet pavement. Federal officers stepped out, presenting an arrest warrant for financial fraud and corporate corruption.

As Reid was led away in handcuffs, he glared at Evan. “You destroyed a fortune for a useless old building!”
Evan looked at Grace, holding her hand tightly as she smiled through tears of joy. “I saved what actually mattered,” Evan replied softly.
