Chapter 7 - A Mother’s LegacyEvan stared at Reid, realizing the depth of his partner’s greed. Reid had quietly staged a boardroom coup behind his back, aiming to strip Evan of his authority and steamroll the historic neighborhood.

“You’re a monster, Reid,” Evan said softly.
“I’m a businessman,” Reid sneered, pulling out his phone. “And at noon, St. Agnes becomes a pile of rubble.”
Evan stormed out of the building, his mind racing. He called his head of security and his personal attorney while driving back toward West Harbor. Time was running out.
By 11:15 a.m., heavy yellow bulldozers and demolition trucks began arriving on the quiet street outside St. Agnes Church. A crowd of frightened neighborhood residents had gathered on the steps, holding signs and linking arms to protect the hall.
At the front of the line stood Grace, holding her blue thermos in one hand and shielding her pregnant belly with the other.
Reid Calloway arrived in his sleek black sedan, wearing an expensive coat and holding a bullhorn. “Clear the area!” Reid shouted over the roar of the bulldozer engines. “This property is legally condemned! Anyone interfering will be arrested!”
