Ryan stared at Logan in absolute horror, calling him a sick lunatic and demanding to know if he had at least hired the best reconstructive surgeon in the city to fix the damage. Logan’s dismissal was casual and cruel. “There’s no need. If she’s permanently scarred, it’s actually better for me. I’ll support her. She’ll have a penthouse, endless money, private nurses. After something like this, who else do you think would ever want to leave me?”
The psychological depravity of his plan took my breath away. He wasn't just getting me out of the way so he could marry Rachel, a woman he had been seeing in secret; he was intentionally mutilating me so I would become entirely dependent on him, isolated from the world by my own disfigurement, trapped in a gilded cage where he could play the saintly fiancé forever.
