Chapter 13 - Reuniting the Broken PiecesWith the legal battles finally behind them, Ethan focused on the most important task of all: bringing his family together.

On a bright Saturday afternoon in late spring, Ethan organized a gathering at his Virginia home. Rose sat comfortably on the back patio sipping iced tea, while Oliver chased a golden retriever across the emerald-green lawn, his laughter ringing out like music in the breeze.
A black sedan pulled up into the driveway. Ethan walked down the steps as Evelyn Vance stepped out of the driver's side, followed by seven-year-old Maya, who clutched a colorful drawing in her hands.
"Hi, Daddy," Maya said shyly, using the word for the very first time.
Ethan’s chest swelled with an emotion so powerful it brought tears to his eyes. He knelt down, opening his arms wide, and Maya ran straight into them, burying her face against his shoulder. Evelyn smiled warmly, wiping away a stray tear. "She’s been asking all week if she gets to meet her brother," Evelyn said gently.
Ethan stood up, holding Maya’s hand, and walked her over toward the lawn where Oliver was playing. Oliver stopped running, staring at the little girl who looked remarkably like him.

"Oliver," Ethan said softly, smiling down at his son. "This is your twin sister, Maya. You two have a lot of catching up to do."
Maya stepped forward, holding out her drawing—a crayon portrait of a house with two children, a dog, and two smiling adults. "I drew this for you," Maya whispered. Oliver’s face lit up with a brilliant, unbroken smile. He reached out and took the paper, whispering back, "Do you want to build a paper airplane with me?"
