Chapter 12 - Facing the ArchitectThe trial of Victoria Knight lasted three grueling weeks. Prosecutors presented a mountain of financial trails, witness testimonies from Grace, Arthur Sterling’s plea deal depositions, and federal documents proving systematic fraud.

On the final day of the trial, before sentencing, Victoria was given the opportunity to address the court. Clad in her prison jumpsuit, she walked slowly to the podium. She didn't look at the jury; she looked directly at Ethan, who sat in the front row next to Rose Parker.

"I spent my entire life protecting the Knight name," Victoria spoke, her voice trembling slightly with age and pride. "I believed that weakness was a disease, and sentimentality was a fatal flaw. I sacrificed everything—including my own soul—to ensure our legacy remained untarnished. I thought I was doing what was right."

She paused, taking a ragged breath. "But looking around this courtroom today, seeing the ruin I created... I realize the only thing I successfully destroyed was my own family."

When the jury delivered their verdict, it was unanimous across all 34 counts. Judge Vance handed down the sentence without hesitation: "Victoria Knight, for the crimes of conspiracy, fraud, kidnapping, and obstruction of justice, this court sentences you to twenty-five years in federal prison without the possibility of parole."

The gavel fell with a sharp, final crack. Victoria didn't cry out. She simply closed her eyes, bowed her head, and allowed the federal marshals to lead her away into the shadows, a fallen queen of her own making.
