Rosa let out a loud, shuddering sob, bowing her head onto the table as tears of relief poured from her eyes.
"I'm so sorry I doubted you," I said softly, my heart aching with remorse. "Claire trusted you with her life, and I should have trusted you with mine."
"It's okay, Ethan," Rosa wept, wiping her eyes as she looked up. "You were protecting your babies. That’s all that matters."
Emma walked out of her bedroom, holding her blue rabbit, looking between us. "Is the bad whistle gone, Mr. Ethan?"

I smiled, picking up the little girl and holding her gently. "The bad whistle is gone forever, Emma. Thanks to you."
"Now," I said, turning back to Rosa, my smile vanishing as my eyes hardened into ice. "It’s time to take the fight to Victoria."
