Chapter 7 - The Boardroom StingOn the following Monday afternoon, the annual shareholders' meeting of the Sterling Family Trust was held at the plush top-floor boardroom of the Financial Center downtown.

Brandonâs father, Richard Sterling Sr., sat at the head of the conference table alongside twelve wealthy family members and board trustees. They were preparing to vote on the distribution of the thirty-million-dollar trust fund.
Richard Sr. adjusted his tie, clearing his throat. âAs you all know, my son Brandonâs surrogate pregnancy unfortunately ended in a medical loss last month. However, under Section 4 of the trust deed, Brandon remains the primary beneficiary once his new marriage contract is finalizedââ
The boardroomâs heavy oak doors were thrown wide open.
Victoria Vance walked in first, followed by Clara, Maria, and Special Agent Marcus.
Richard Sr. stood up in rage, slamming his hands on the mahogany table. âWhat is the meaning of this intrusion?! This is a private family meeting!â
Victoria walked straight up to the table, slapping a thick leather binder down onto the glass surface.
âThis meeting is officially adjourned pursuant to a federal court order, Mr. Sterling,â Victoria announced, her voice ringing clearly through the room.
Clara stepped forward, looking directly into the eyes of Brandonâs family.
âYour son didn't suffer a tragic medical loss, Mr. Sterling,â Clara said, her voice clear, strong, and unyielding. âYour son stole my frozen embryo from St. Judeâs Clinic, forged my signature, and attempted to sacrifice my sixty-six-year-old motherâs life to claim your thirty-million-dollar inheritance.â

The board members gasped in absolute horror, exchanging panicked glances.
Richard Sr.âs face turned ash-gray as he opened the binder, staring at the printed emails, the forged consent forms, and the Mexican clinic wire transfer receipts.
