Chapter 5 - The Paper TrailBrandon froze, his face draining of color as he looked at the two officers.

“What is the meaning of this?!” Brandon demanded, backing toward the wall. “This is a civil domestic dispute!”

“It stopped being a civil dispute the moment you forged federal fertility consent documents and committed interstate wire fraud,” Victoria stated coldly.

Special Agent Marcus from the FBI stepped into the room behind the officers, holding a pair of heavy steel handcuffs.

“Brandon Sterling,” Agent Marcus announced, “you are under arrest for federal wire fraud, identity theft, forging medical records, and reckless endangerment.”

“You can’t arrest me!” Brandon shouted as an officer grabbed his arms, pinning him against the doorframe. “My father is senior partner at Sterling & Vance! I have full immunity!”

The metallic click-clack of the heavy steel handcuffs snapping around his wrists echoed loudly through the ICU room.
