Chapter 14 - Rebuilding the Trust

The morning sun broke over the manicured lawns of the Vance estate, casting a brilliant, warm light through the grand arched windows of the living room. The storm had passed, leaving behind a profound, cleansing quiet.

Julian sat on the edge of the velvet sofa, his head in his hands, looking emotionally exhausted. Clara stood quietly by the window, watching the gardeners tend to the roses outside.

Julian stood up and walked over to her slowly, stopping just a few inches away. He didn't try to touch her; his eyes were filled with deep remorse and vulnerability. "Clara... I am so sorry. For everything. For my blindness, for my mother’s cruelty, for letting you walk into this house unprotected."

"You didn't know, Julian," Clara said softly, turning to face him. "Eleanor was a master manipulator. She fooled everyone."

"When I found out what she tried to do to you... when I realized how close I came to losing you because I was too blind to see the monster living under our roof..." Julian’s voice broke. "I don't expect you to forgive me overnight. But I want to spend the rest of my life making it up to you. Vance Global is yours to co-manage, and this house... this house belongs to us now."
