Chapter 8 - The DemotionBy noon, the news had hit Wall Street.

"STERLING GLOBAL ROCKED BY SUDDEN LEADERSHIP SHAKEUP: MYSTERIOUS ELDER BROTHER CLAIMS CONTROLLING STAKE."
Inside the executive office, Julian was throwing boxes into a cardboard container, his hands shaking with blind rage as security stood by the door.
"You won't win, Christian," Julian spat, pausing at the door with his box in hand. "This family built this company on blood and steel. You think you can just walk in and take it?"
"I didn't take anything, Julian. I just reclaimed what was stolen," Christian replied quietly, sitting behind the massive obsidian desk that used to be his father's. "Now get out of my building. You're dismissed."
Clara stood near the window, watching Julian storm out of the office in absolute defeat. For the first time in her life, she felt a glimmer of genuine freedom.
Christian looked up from his computer screens, meeting her eyes. "Clara. You're no longer an analyst. As of today, you're the executive vice president of corporate strategy. Pack up your desk and move into the corner office."
May you like
Clara blinked in shock. "Me? But... I don't know the first thing about running a division."
"You know more than you think," Christian smiled warmly. "You've just been conditioned to stay quiet. That ends today."
