Chapter 9 - The Vow in the Canyon

On a magnificent, sun-drenched afternoon in May, our wedding was held in the red rock canyon of Sedona.
Cedar arbors were draped in white desert roses, blooming eucalyptus, and soft sage.
Over a hundred guests—including recovered oncology patients from my foundation, Mayo Clinic doctors, and Marcus Sterling—gathered beneath the open azure sky.
I walked down the petal-strewn stone aisle wearing a custom-tailored ivory lace gown with off-the-shoulder sleeves and a flowing veil that danced in the mountain breeze.
Julian stood at the altar in a sharp charcoal suit, his eyes filled with such profound adoration that the entire world seemed to fade away.
When I reached his side, he took my hands into his, lifting my veil with infinite gentleness.
"Mia," Julian spoke during his vows, his voice clear and resonant. "You taught me that love is not a transaction; it is a sacred promise to stand as a shield in the storm. I vow to honor you, celebrate your victories, and love you with every beat of my heart for all eternity."
May you like
"Julian," I replied, my voice steady and full of light. "You believed in my survival when my own blood turned away. You gave me a future, a home, and a love that is pure, brave, and unshakeable. I am yours, completely and forever."
When the minister pronounced us husband and wife, Julian pulled me into a passionate, breathtaking kiss, while our guests erupted into thunderous, standing cheers.
