Chapter 6 - The Raid on the Estate

While I was resting in recovery, a fleet of federal and county law enforcement vehicles surrounded the Hayes estate in Scottsdale.
Arthur Hayes was sitting at his kitchen island, drinking an expensive single-malt scotch, waiting for his bank to confirm the transfer of my surgery money to Brandon's bookies.
The heavy mahogany front doors were breached with a concussive crash.
"Federal Bureau of Investigation! Nobody move!"
Tactical agents in ballistic vests swarmed into the house, laser sights illuminating the crystal chandeliers and black marble counters.
Arthur sprang to his feet, knocking his glass to the floor. "What is the meaning of this?! Do you know who I am?!"
Special Agent David Vance stepped forward, holding a federal indictment bearing sixty-two counts of bank fraud, grand larceny, trust embezzlement, and felony aggravated assault.
"Arthur Hayes and Brandon Hayes," Agent Vance announced with booming authority. "You are under arrest."
Brandon stumbled out of the living room, weeping in panic as two deputies tackled him to the floor, snapping steel handcuffs around his wrists.
Cynthia shrieked, clutching her emerald blouse as agents seized laptops, financial ledgers, and safe deposit boxes from the master study.
Within forty-eight hours, the local news channels broadcast the complete downfall of the Hayes family dynasty.
