Chapter 11 - A Different Kind of Proposal

Julian proposed two years after we met.

Not in Paris.

Not at an expensive restaurant.

He proposed in my office after helping me assemble bookshelves.

I laughed because he dropped one of the screws while reaching for the ring.

“This is going terribly,” he said.

“It really is.”

He knelt anyway.

“Selena Reyes, I don’t want you to belong to me. I want us to keep choosing each other. Will you marry me?”

I cried.

Then I asked, “Can I keep Reyes?”

Julian grinned.

“I would be concerned if you didn’t.”

“Yes.”

He blinked.

“Yes to keeping Reyes?”

“Yes to you, idiot.”

He kissed me while an unfinished bookshelf leaned dangerously behind us.

It was perfect.
