Chapter 9 - The Custody BattleThe final court hearing arrived. The courtroom was packed with press, family, and lawyers.

Sterling’s defense attorney stood before the judge, arguing coldly that Julian was an unstable parent due to his medical history and that I was unprepared for sudden motherhood.
When it was my turn to take the stand, I looked at the judge, then back at Julian, Arthur, and Mark sitting together in the front row.
"Your Honor," I said firmly, my voice echoing with absolute clarity. "Fifteen years ago, a lie broke my family apart. My sister spent her life running from a man who thought money could buy silence. But Rachel gave me a second chance. She gave me two beautiful nephews, restored my father to my life, and brought us together."
I turned to look at Julian, who held a small baby blanket tightly. "Julian didn't abandon his sons—he survived against all odds to come home to them. We are not an unfit family, Your Honor. We are a family that fought through fifteen years of darkness to protect these children."
The judge looked over her glasses, nodding slowly. She slammed her gavel down hard on the wooden desk.

"Custody is officially awarded to Julian Vance, with joint guardianship granted to Emma Sullivan. The Sullivan trust is hereby fully restored to the heirs. Case closed."
The courtroom erupted into cheers as Julian wept with relief, hugging me tightly.
