Chapter 3 - The Secret of the Donovan DynastyOver the next twenty-one days, while Blake bought her diamond bracelets and pretended to be the devoted father-to-be, Emma worked quietly with her childhood friend, Marcus—a brilliant digital forensic investigator.

What Marcus uncovered went far beyond domestic betrayal.

“Emma, look at these wire transactions,” Marcus had pointed to his screen, highlighting a series of offshore transfers executed by Blake’s father, Richard Donovan. “Donovan Global isn't just hiding assets from you. They’re running a massive multi-million-dollar tax evasion scheme through a shell firm registered in Grand Cayman.”

“Are they using my name?” Emma had asked, her voice tight.

“Worse,” Marcus revealed, opening a corporate deed. “They listed your school fundraiser foundation as a charitable pass-through entity without your knowledge. They laundered four million dollars through your school’s account last quarter to avoid federal tax audits.”

They weren't just going to take her child—they were going to frame her for corporate financial fraud if the federal authorities ever investigated their accounts.

Emma had closed her eyes, feeling her baby kick against her stomach.

“They think I’m weak because I’m quiet, Marcus,” Emma had said softly, her voice dropping into an icy register. “They think because I teach eight-year-olds, I don't know how to fight.”

“What do you want to do?” Marcus asked.

“Set up the cathedral’s media server,” Emma instructed. “I’m giving them a wedding present they will never forget.”
