Chapter 6 - The ReclamationWith Victoria, Richard, and Dr. Harrison in police custody, the news sent shockwaves through the financial sector.

The story of the wealthy Vance family plotting against the CEO's humble wife dominated national headlines: “Greed Behind the Gates: Vance Empire Heiress Arrested for Poisoning CEO's Wife.”
Public sympathy swelled overwhelmingly for Clara. The woman who had been mocked and hidden away in the dark kitchen was now recognized as the true heart of the Vance family—a survivor who had endured months of psychological warfare to protect her husband's focus.
A month after the arrests, Clara stood in the grand foyer of our estate.
Her hands had healed completely, the red burns replaced by smooth, soft skin. She wore a custom-tailored emerald green dress that accentuated her natural elegance, her dark hair styled gracefully over her shoulders.
Beside her stood an army of elite interior designers, landscapers, and contractors I had hired.
“Every single piece of furniture chosen by Victoria is to be removed and donated to charity,” I announced to the lead designer while holding Clara’s waist. “My wife will oversee the total redesign of this estate from scratch.”
Clara looked up at me, a soft, genuine smile blooming across her face—the first real smile I had seen in over a year.
“Are you sure, Julian?” she asked softly. “It’s a massive project.”
“This is your home, Clara,” I said, kissing her cheek. “It should reflect your heart, not their greed.”
Over the next three months, the gloomy, ostentatious estate was transformed into a warm, sunlit haven. The dark heavy drapes were replaced with flowing sheer linen; the cold marble in the east wing was swapped for warm oak floors; and the back kitchen—the site of her painful servitude—was completely gutted and rebuilt into a magnificent, open-concept culinary space with glass walls opening onto an organic rose garden.
Clara didn't just redecorate the house; she reclaimed her space, her dignity, and her voice.
One evening, as we sat together on the new garden patio watching the sunset over the lake, Clara leaned her head against my shoulder.

“I used to think I didn't belong here, Julian,” she admitted gently, her fingers interlocking with mine.
“You belong wherever I am, Clara,” I replied. “Because without you, this is just empty stone.”
