Chapter 9 - Reclaiming the LightTravis opened the velvet box, revealing an exquisite, hand-carved diamond ring that sparkled like stars under the terrace lights.

He stood up, walked around the table, and dropped onto one knee before me.

“Emily Sterling,” Travis spoke softly, his voice rich with unconditional love and deep respect. “You survived darkness with a heart full of grace, kindness, and light. You built a future for hundreds of forgotten children, and you taught me what true beauty really means. Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife?”

Tears of pure, overwhelming joy spilled down my cheeks as I looked down at the man who had stood by my side, protected me, and honored my heart.

“Yes, Travis,” I whispered, my voice thick with emotion. “Yes!”

He slipped the ring onto my finger, standing up to pull me into a passionate, tender kiss under the clear, star-lit sky.

The pain of the cold table near the drafty window was gone forever. Out of the ashes of betrayal and greed, a true, unbreakable love had been born to light the world.
