Chapter 7 - The Confrontation in the CorridorEthan sat down on the edge of the bed, burying his face in his hands for a long moment as he processed the revelation.

When he lifted his head, his eyes were bloodshot, filled with a mixture of overwhelming love and deep, aching sorrow.
"I loved you for three years, Clare," Ethan said, taking her hand in his. "I never stopped loving you. Not for a single day. When you walked away, it tore my heart out. But thinking that you went through nine months of pregnancy alone... thinking that you sat in this room preparing to give birth by yourself... that breaks me."
"Ethan..."
"I don't care about the career, Clare. I don't care about the timing. I care about you. And I care about our daughter."
Nurse Rosa stepped forward gently. "Dr. Cole, we need to complete the birth certificate paperwork when you're ready."
Ethan looked at Clare, his dark eyes holding a silent question.
"What's her name?" Ethan asked softly.

Clare smiled through her tears, looking down at the baby girl cradled in her arms. "Her name is Lily. Lily Cole."
Ethan felt a tear slip down his cheek as he leaned down and pressed a long, gentle kiss onto Clareâs forehead, then touched his lips to tiny Lilyâs head.
