Chapter 4 - The First CryAt 5:42 AM, as the first rays of golden sunlight pierced through the window blinds of Room 7, a sharp, clear cry filled the room.

"It's a girl," Ethan whispered, his hands cradling the tiny, squirming newborn.
Tears spilled freely down Clareâs cheeks as Ethan gently placed the baby on her bare chest. The little girl let out another soft wail before settling against her mother's skin, her dark blue eyes blinking up at the world.
Ethan stood over them, his gloved hands trembling slightly as he lowered his surgical mask. For a man who had delivered thousands of infants, the sight of Clare holding her daughter brought a lump to his throat that threatened to choke him.
"She's beautiful, Clare," he murmured softly.
"She looks like..." Clare paused, her eyes searching the baby's delicate features, noticing the faint dimple on her chinâa dimple identical to Ethanâs.
Ethan froze, his eyes locking onto Clareâs with a sudden, electrifying realization. He looked at the baby girlâs tiny face, then back at Clare, the timeline suddenly falling into place in his mind.
