Chapter 10 - A Family RestoredOne year later.

The morning sun streamed through the large bay windows of a beautiful two-story home in the quiet suburbs of Chicago.

In the backyard, a wooden crib swing gently swayed beneath a towering oak tree, surrounded by blooming hydrangeas and green grass.

Inside the sunlit kitchen, Ethan stood by the counter in his jeans and a white t-shirt, pouring two cups of fresh coffee while one-year-old Lily giggled happily in her high chair, playing with a plastic spoon.

Clare walked into the kitchen wearing a cozy knit sweater, her hair styled in soft golden waves, a radiant, radiant smile illuminating her face.

She wrapped her arms around Ethan’s waist from behind, resting her cheek against his back.

Ethan turned in her arms, pulling her close, resting his chin on top of her head as they both looked over at their healthy, laughing daughter.

"Happy anniversary, Dr. Cole," Clare whispered, tracing her fingers over the simple gold wedding band on Ethan’s left hand.

"Happy anniversary, Mrs. Cole," Ethan smiled, kissing her deeply, holding her tight against his chest.

The painful nights of solitude were gone forever. The fear of being alone had vanished into the warmth of true love, and in the quiet sanctuary of their home, the man who had brought their daughter into the world held his family safe forever.
